Informatica Workflow Succeeded But Session Failed

Sometime it happens like Informatica session got failed but Workflow will show as succeeded. If you are running mappings though DAC , DAC will not stop execution as Workflow got succeeded. So in that case it is very difficult to find out the failed mappings. So to control the DAC and to get the actual status of mapping we need to enable a option , "Fail parent if this task failed" in session level.

Open session and enable the below showed options.

OBIEE 11g: Tool-tips

We can have the tool-tips in multiple places in BI. Tool-tips show the preview with a bit of description which will help user to know about the dashboards or reports whenever they will move the mouse over it.  We can put tool-tips in Dashboard, Dashboard page, Report title, Column heading, etc.  Developer can provide a brief description about the dashboard/reports.

To provide the tool-tips in dashboard level, go to catalog and select the particular dashboard then go to properties of the same. You will get a section called “Description”, where you can write down the brief description about it.  Need to do the same for dashboard page or report title as well.

Now if you want to provide tool-tips on a column heading you need to write a bit of HTML code.

You need to write the below code in Column heading and check the Contain HTML heading option .

<span title="Difference between PR Approval Date and PO Approval Date">Days Taken</span>

Here, "Difference between PR Approval Date and PO Approval Date" will show as preview on column heading.
"Days Taken" will be the column name.

OBIEE 11g: Priority Groups

Priority Groups is being used to prioritized the LTS to BI server while creating the SQL query.

For example, lets consider a case where there are 2 aliases for the same dimension CHANNELS as shown below
In the business model and mapping layer, lets assume that both the LTS are mapped to all the columns. Both the LTS are at the same detail level. Now, lets assign a priority group of 0 for the Channel Alias – B LTS and a priority group of 1 for the Channel Alias – A LTS. Also the SALES LTS of the Fact table will also be assigned to the priority group 0. In 11g, the LTS with the least number is considered as the one that has to be chosen for querying (highest priority)
Now, lets create a report containing columns from Channels dimension and the Sales fact.

If you look at the query of the report, you will notice that Channels Alias – B will be chosen as it is the one having the highest priority.
Lets now go back to the repository and reassign the highest the priority to Channels Alias – A as shown below
For the same report, if you look at the query now, you will notice that Channels Alias – A will be chosen instead of the B alias.

OBIEE 11g : Create New Domain

Here, today we will discuss how to create a new domain when we have already installed one. Sometime its required to do this also to resolve some of the unpredictable issue. J

Before starting the process make sure that all BI server components (weblogic , Node Manager, Managed Server and OPMN) are down.

Step 1: You need to create a new repository schema with a new prefix. Initially if you would have create a RCU schema with DEV_BIPLATFORM & DEV_MDS, then now it will be like DEV1_BIPLATFORM & DEV1_MDS.

Step 2: Go to OBIEE MW Home >> Oracle_BI1 >> Bin. There you will be having a file called ‘config.sh’ or ‘config.bat’ . Run the file as per your BI server environment (Linux/Windows). Note that, you need to remove the $ORACLE_HOME path before starting the creation of domain.

Step 3: Once the new domain has been created, you can verify the same.  Go to OBIEE MW Home >>  instances , here two instances will be there (instance1 & instance2). Then go to OBIEE MW Home >>  user_projects >> domains, here also two domains will be there (bifoundation_domain & bifoundation_domain1).

Step 4: Restart all the BI server components.

OBIEE Weblogic User Login Issue

There could be n number of reasons when Weblogic user is not able to login to BI analytics.  Some of the possible reasons are given below:
1.  Credential mapping issue for BISytemUser. For more details click  here.
2.  GUID mismatch of Weblogic User. For more details  click here.
3.  BI System Application Role got deleted. For more details click here.
4.  If SSO is enabled in BI please check the below points:
         a. Password for BISytemUser account is same in IDAM and BI.
         b. Check whether BISytemUser account has expired or not which has been created in IDAM to communicate with BI.

 5. Need to check whether BI metadata schema ( BIPLATFORM & MDS ) has expired or not .

 6. Packages for BI metadata schema ( BIPLATFORM & MDS ) can be corrupted. Need to take care of that also.

7. If none of the above solution work out then you can go ahead with creating a new domain.
